Living a healthy life starts at home and in our neighborhood. Every community faces its own set of health issues. Collaborating with community members to pinpoint those issues and create solutions empowers everyone to take an active role in their health and well-being. That’s why the Katz Institute for Women’s Health has partnered with these organizations to make sure all women are receiving the information and support they need.
American Heart Association—Go Red For Women
Go Red For Women promotes the awareness of heart disease in women and also provides information and tools to help women take action to reduce their risk. North Shore-LIJ is the 2013 “Cities Go Red” sponsor for New York City and Long Island.
WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease is the nation’s only patient organization that supports women who are living with or at risk for heart disease. The Katz Institute for Women’s Health is a founding member of the National Hospital Alliance of WomenHeart.
The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) builds courage, confidence and character in girls. With approximately 20,000 girls supported by 7,000 adult volunteers and 60 staff members, GSNC is the largest private organization in the county that serves our youth. The Katz Institute for Women’s Health partners with GSNC to provide health education opportunities for the scouts.
